Gamebourne

Dual Purpose Gundogs

News

Off to work ...

The day after the Merseyside Gundog show we were of to the Cheshire plains for a spot of game shooting. Purdy (G. Perdita) joined the team, this was her first experience of a walked up shoot day with a team of guns and dogs all working together. She coped with the day very well, our aim was to give her some experience but try to keep her out of trouble !!! We kept her on the edge of the action as much as possible and she made some nice retrieves on partridge and pheasant, towards the end of the day she did a spot of hunting in the woods where she was very keen into cover and a tad head strong, she did however produce birds and drop to shot so not too bad for her first efforts on a shoot day. A tad more control when hunting would be nice so back to the training fields ...

Merseyside Gundog Club

Louis had a great day handling his own Gamebourne Monique and my own Gamebourne Perdita at The Mersyside Gundog Club Open show on the 15th of November.

The team did very well ::

Gamebourne Monique - Best Puppy in Breed and shortlisted for Best Puppy in Show

Gamebourne Perdita - Best of Breed, Best AV Guindog and shortlisted for Best in Show

Louis with Monique (Left) and Perdita (Right)

Field Spaniel Open Show

Lucy flew the flag for us at the Field Spaniel Society Open Show on the 8th of November - she certainly did us proud winning her class, Best Puppy Bitch and Best Puppy in Show

NEWS Shot Over Day

Purdy had a most enjoyable day at the NEWS Shot Over Day in Yorkshire on 28th October. So much more fun than all this show ring stuff  The weather was unseasonable kind, the ground was outstanding and birds were available for the dogs to find in just the right quantities. Many thanks to the committee of NEWS for organising the day, to the land owner for allowing us to train on his shoot and to the guns who shot so well for us all day.

Purdy delighted me on all counts, she hunted well and retrieved her first warm bird following a productive point/flush in woodland with the bird being shot over the crops giving her a blind retrieve.

Louis ventures into a Championship Show ring for the first time with Yvie (Gamebourne Monique) and thrilled us with a VHC in a strong puppy class. Well done !!

Other results ::

  2. Tumblebar Evening Romance at Imachar - 1st Puppy Bitch and BPIB again

Gundog Society of Wales

A beautiful autumn day awaited us in Malvern for the last outdoor show of the year, the girls had a lovely day out and once again did us proud ::

1. Gamebourne Perdita - Resrve in Open Bitch

2. Tumblebar Evening Romance at Imachar (Field Spaniel) - Best Puppy in Breed and Reserve Best Bitch

GSPC Open Show

Louis made his handling debut with Gamebourne Monique at the breed club open show and did a grand job taking home a Reserve in Puppy and 3rd in Novice - a great start to a new hobby  Keep up the good work and when "Princess Monique" is a tad more co-operative we predict even more success.

Driffield

Lucy (Tumblebar Evening Romance at Imachar) and Purdy( Gamebourne Perdita) represented Gamebourne today and did us proud, even the drizzle couldn't damp down the mood

1. Tumblebar Evening Romance at Imachar (Field Spaniel) - 1st Minor Puppy Bitch, & Best Puppy in Breed

2. Gamebourne Perdita - 2nds Open bitch

Belfast

Herbie (G. Romeo) and Purdy (G Perdita) were back on a ferry this weekend - no not Holland this time but a trip to Belfast. Fortunately the Irish Sea was kind and the crossing was calm ..... it can be a rather rocky ride !!

The brother and sister act delighted us with ::

Gamebourne Romeo at Ankerwycke   - 2nd Limit Dog

Gamebourne Perdita - 2nd Open Bitch

After the show we took the chance to visit Cave Hill Country Park to give the kids a good run before taking the overnight ferry home. The park is set on the hillside overlooking the city and Belfast Loch - great views but lung busting climbs !!! After a lovely walk it was off to Belfast Castle for an evening meal before sailing home.

Darlington Ch Sh

Lucy (Tumblebar Evening Romance at Imachar - Field Spaniel) was our sole canine representative at Darlington Ch Sh. This was Lucy's first show and I think its fair to say she had a ball  She took great joy in ambushing folks into talking to her and met lots of new doggy friends around the rings. She also showed her little socks off and won her Minor Puppy Class which qualifies her for Crufts first time out .... next stop Driffield !!!!!!

Shows and pupdates !!!

The August BH weekend was a busy one for us, first a flying visit to Rotterdam International Ch Sh at Ahoy Centre and then before travelling back home from the ferry we popped into see two of Rio's babies (Barleyarch Bourneville at Gamebourne) who live in Surrey.

First news from the show ::

Gamebourne Perdita - graded excellent open bitch, CAC, CACIB & BOB

Dutch Ch Tumblebar Evening Star at Imachar - graded excellent open dog, CAC, CACIB & BOB

Results don't get much better than that !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pupdates ::

We visited both Gamebourne Bettina (who is already Crufts Qualified) and Gamebourne Casanova who are now just 9mth old. Both are developing nicely and are very happy outgoing young dogs with more than just a hint of mum about them ................

Gamebourne Cupid pays a visit .....

Last time I saw Amber in the flesh she was 7 wks old so I was very much looking forward to seeing her again. Needless to say a photo session was called for and she clearly remembered that standing thing from her baby puppy days  She is now 8mths old and another of the Rio's babies that is clearly a chip off the old block....

Welsh Kennel Club Ch Sh

Gamebourne Monique (Yvie) was flying the flag for us today and delighted us with a win in Minor Puppy Bitch   This was only her second outing at a dog show and this win qualifies her for Crufts 2010 alongside litter mates Gamebourne Bedazzled and Gamebourne Bettina .. sadly due to their docked tail they will not be allowed to enter

HPR Team Retrieving Challange

The Yorkshire Branch of the GSPC hosted this event on Sunday 9th August near Tadcaster, North Yorkshire. It is a team event where the invited teams enter as many dogs as they can muster, with the top 3 overall scores / team counting to the final team score.  Rio (Barleyarch Bourneville at Gamebourne) and Purdy (Gamebourne Perdita) represented the Yorkshire GSPC and delighted us with their efforts over the four tests. Rio finished the day with 84/100 and her individual score contributed to the Yorkshire GSPC team win   Purdy was snapping at her heels all day and finished just a few marks behind on 79/100

A spot of R + R ....

After the excitement of Paignton a trip to Yorkshire was just what we all needed   The weather perked up and we had a wonderful time just chilling out and playing on the beech. We even sneeked up on a baby seal relaxing on the beech !!

Left to Right :: Purdy / Cassie / Rio

3. Gamebourne Bedazzled (another half sister to Perdita) wins Minor Puppy Bitch

4. Gamebourne Romeo at Ankerwycke gains VHC in Limit dog

Sadly no pix as the weather was so grim ... typical British summer rain. The memories will be vivid for quite some time however

National Gundog

After a couple of Best Puppy awards at Open shows Gamebourne Bettina attended her first Championship Show and placed 2nd in Minor Puppy. Well done Fern & Sue

Hopefully we will get some pictures soon ....

NW Group - GSPC - working test @ Watergrove Rochdale

There is only two sorts of weather for this annual working test ... raining stair rods or cracking the flags, 2009 saw the year of the rain ... far too wet for pix (sorry !!)

Gamebourne Perdita was running in Novice and acquitted herself very well and finished a creditable 5th out of 17 runners - score 74/100. Just 4 marks separated first 5 places in this very competitive class. Needless to say I am delighted with her progress

A spot of R + R

Took a few days away at the caraven in Yorkshire for some R+R and to do a bit of one to one gundog training with Purdy. The weather was kind and all too soon it was time to come home ... roll on the next trip in August !!

Peppa update ......

News and latest pix from Matt have arrived regarding Peppa's progress. Peppa is being trained as a sniffer dog for the West Midlands Fire Service, she has been getting out and about throughout her puppyhood to get familiar with sights n sounds she will encounter in her future working life, she has developed a strong desire to hunt her tennis balls and has been into cold fire scenes to look for her balls.  Training on scent discrimination for common fire accelerants will start very soon ... fingers crossed she continues to do well.

Far right - Peppa with her best buddy Fire Investigation dog Ellie

Blackpool Ch Sh - June

Yvie (Gamebourne Monique ) made her debut at the weekend in a competitive Minor Puppy Class. Having only been to one ringcraft session she delighted us with her performance, she clearly enjoyed her day out and we hope to take her to a few more events in 2009

1. Gamebourne Monique - Reserve Minor Puppy bitch

2. Gamebourne Perdita - Reserve Limit bitch

** Gamebourne Bettina also makes her debut at an Open show at Maidenhead on 21st June - 1st Puppy Class and Best Puppy in Breed. Watch out for her at National Gundog Ch Sh in August **

German Shorthaired Pointer Club Social Weekend & Championship Show 13-14th June

Summer arrived this weekend .... exhibitors have shed the thermals and adopted shorts, all in the space of 5 weeks !!!

Saturday was the working tests and Perdita delighted us with a score of 79 / 100 to finish in 5th place form 18 entries at her first novice test.

Sunday was show day::

1. Perdita placed 3rd in Limit bitch

2. Cassiopeia enjoyed her day out and placed 1st in veteran bitch for second year in a row.

Netherland Club for German Shorthaired Pointer ( NVDSK)  7th June

The weekend saw another trip across the channel to the NVDSK Championship Club match at Soest. This is the biggest gathering of GSP's in Holland and the show attracted 73 dogs for judges Dhr. J M J van Soest (dogs) and W.P.G. Hochstenbach (Bitches).

1. Gamebourne Perdita - excellent grade and placed 4th Open class ( 15 entries)

2. Gamebourne Romeo at Ankerwycke - graded Excellent, 2nd Open (12 entries) , & Reserve CAC (entry 37 dogs)    This gives Herbie enough points for his Dutch Champion title however he is still too young to claim it as minimum age for a Dutch Champion is 27mths. To gain his title he will need a CAC or Reserve CAC in 2010 .... another excuse for a girlie weekend away

 Southern Counties 5th June

This was the first time out for Gamebourne Bedazzled (Sh Ch Barleyarch Paris ex Barleyarch Bourneville at Gamebourne) .. she so enjoyed her day, and delighted us and her owners with a 2nd place from a well filled Minor Puppy Class    This qualifies her for Crufts 2010 but sadly she will not be allowed to enter due to her docked tail

Gamebourne Perdita placed 2nd in Yearling

Gamebourne Romeo at Ankerwycke placed Reserve in Limit

Gamebourne Bedazzled - 6mths

Millie pays a visit ...

Millie, a pup from Rio's December '08 litter, popped around to see us today ...... and she is a real chip off the old block !!  Needless to say she had to co-operate for a quick photo session but all that boring stuff was soon forgotten when she aquired a lovely smoked bone !!

NOBS May09

Purdy and I attended the Nobs gundog training day at Coniston Hall on Sunday 17th May. Unlike Scotland we were very lucky with the weather despite a grim forecast and a great day was had by all. I took the camera along and got a few good shots of the dogs working .. needless to say the only shot of Purdy is of her sitting with her eye on the action, handling the dog and a camera if far too much even for a multi-task specialist  The dogs all had some lovely retrieves from land and water and the opportunity to hunt the woods .. we even flushed a roe deer, ran right past me but I didn't have the camera ready ...

If you would like to see more pix from the day click here -- password is coniston

First European trip in 2009

April saw us travel to Zeeland in Holland for our first European International Show of 2009 at Goes. We had a lovely trip and great weather, the hotel was in a beautiful village = wish we could have stayed longer to explore the area which was very pretty.

We only took G. Perdita on this trip and she delighted us with a win = 1st in Open Bitch with yet another Excellent grade under FCI rules

CRUFTS 2009
